NORTHAMPTON, Mass. ---- Nine more schools records were shattered and two additional NJCAA National Championship qualifying times were met at the Pioneers Invitational hosted by Smith College over the weekend.
Individually, Karlyvelle Ladouceur (Winter Park, Fla.) qualified for her third different event in 2016, finishing seventh overall in the 400m dash in a time of 1:04.09. Ladouceur has now qualified for Nationals and set school records in the 100m, 200m and 400m this season on the women's side.
For the men, Kevin Baldwin (San Jose, Calif.) took seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase, surpassing the National qualifications and posting a Massasoit record in 12:42.59.
Both sets of men's relay teams recorded Massasoit best times. The foursome of Tevon Springer (Sharon), Liam Brennan (Middleboro), Justin Bean (Foxboro) and Nick Vaughn (Kingston) bested their own school record time in the 4x100 relay, finishing third overall in a time of 45.26. The near full second improvement gives Massasoit the 12th fastest time in the event in the NJCAA Division III rankings.
The 4x400 team of Bean, Dominick Leite (Brockton), Davonte Chandler (Brockton) and Brennan broke the school record in the event by over nine seconds, placing sixth in 4:02.06.
In addition, Brennan reset his own 110m hurdle record along with posting another school record in the 400m hurdles, placing third (17.44) and sixth (1:07.06), respectively at the meet.
In the jumping events Chandler leaped a school-best 5.58m and Deja Houston (Taunton) sprung forward 3.86m for a Massasoit best distance of her own in the long jump.
Lastly, Mitch Vaughn (Kingston) broke the school record in the high jump, posting a height of 1.85m, improving on his already National qualifying height. His height finished second overall at the meet.
