Massasoit Appears In USTFCCCA Rankings For Third Straight Week

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- For the third consecutive week, both the Massasoit Community College men's and women's track programs appeared in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top-25 team rankings announced on Wednesday.

The men's squad was listed 19th overall and the women ranking 20th.

For the men, five different student-athletes appeared in the top-50 list performance for an event, with four appearing in multiple events.

Nick Vaughn (Kingston) boasts the highest ranking for the Warriors, sitting eighth in the 100m (11.15). He also appears 40th in the shot put and 45th in the 200m.

Alex MacMillan, like Vaughn, appears in the top-50 in three separate events. His best placement is in the javelin at ninth overall after breaking his own school record with a 45.86m throw last Saturday. The Brockton native is 13th in the high jump (1.8m) and 33rd in the 200m.

Others appearing on the men's side include:
Mitchell Vaughn (Kingston) – 22nd in high jump; 47th in shot put
Rokas Piragis (Brockton) – 34th in 400m; 42nd in 800m
Jacob Hume (Brockton) – 28th in triple jump
4x100 relay – 14th

On the women's side, all three members of Massasoit's track team appear in at least one event.

Kerry O'Neil (Stoughton) ranks 12th overall in the 5,000m race, after registering a season-low time of 22:38.53 last Saturday.

Rosie Debrito (Brockton) appears in two events, 29th in long jump and 37th in 400m, while Emely Abellard (Brockton) sits 32nd in the 100m dash.

Massasoit concludes the regular season this Sunday, taking part in the Regis Pride Classic, hosted by Regis College in Weston, Mass.
