Men’s Soccer Places Six on All-Region 21 Team

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's soccer team placed a total of six student-athletes, all Brockton natives, on the NJCAA All-Region 21 Division I Men's Soccer Team.

The six students that earned the regional recognition included three sophomores – David Isaac, Maldini Da Fonseca and Edmar Goncalves, along with three freshmen – Esteven Gomes, Leonardo Teixeira and Paulo Ramalho.

David Isaac, a team captain and goalie, started 18 of 19 games in net for the Warriors, totaling 94 saves and four total shutouts, owning a record of 10-6-2 in net for the season. He finishes his two-year career with 163 saves and seven clean sheets to his record.

Maldini Da Fonseca saw time both as a forward and midfielder during his second year donning the Green and White. Da Fonseca finished second on the team in points (33), goals (12) and assists (9) on the year.

Edmar Goncalves played primarily as a central defending midfielder for the Warriors. The Brockton native scored one goal and tallied two assists, starting all 19 games on the season.

Leonardo Teixeira was a scoring machine in his first season coming to Massasoit from Brockton High. The freshman scored a team-high 20 goals and dished out seven assists on his way to a team-best 47 points. Teixeira became the first Warrior to reach 20 goals since Andrew Revanales netted 22 goals back in 2015.

Esteven Gomes, started all 19 games as an attacking midfielder, topping the team in assists with 10 on the season. He added six goals to total 33 points, ranking third on the team in that category.

Rounding out the six all-region honorees is central defender Paulo Ramalho. During his first season at Massasoit, Ramalho emerged as one of the top defenders on the Warriors, and tallied one goal and one assist in 19 games played.
