Warriors Net Three Goals in Six-Minute Span to Top Southern Maine CC, 4-1

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Southern Maine CC scored the game's first goal in the 24th minute, but the Massasoit men's soccer team responded with a three-goal scoring spree in a six-minute span midway through the first half to control the scoreboard and claim a 4-1 win on Saturday.

The win for Massasoit improved the Warriors to 5-5-1 on the season, while SMCC dropped to 9-2 and snapped a nine-game win streak.

SMCC's Mohamed Matan scored the game's first goal on a lose ball in front of net to break the scoreless tie.

From there on it was all Massasoit, as the Warriors responded when Leonardo Teixeira (Brockton) poked through a shot in the 27th minute to even the score.

Just four minutes later, Teixiera would strike again giving the true freshman a team-high 11 goals, thanks to his third multi-goal contest of the season.

The spree was not over then, as Juliano Andrade (Brockton) laced the team's third goal off a through ball pass from Teixieria in the 32nd minute, as the Warriors held a commanding 3-1 advantage at the break.

Following intermission, Edmar Goncalves (Brockton) rocketed home his first career goal, off a shot that hit the crossbar and in from 30 yards out to round out the scoring on the day.

Massasoit hosts Bryant & Stratton on Sunday at 1 PM.
