Men’s Soccer Places Six on All-Region 21 Team

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- A total of six Massasoit men's soccer student-athletes were named to the All-Region 21 First Team, recently announced by the conference office.

Three sophomores and three freshmen received accolades off head coach Rui Estrela's squad that finished a game shy of reaching the NJCAA National Tournament, falling to Monroe College 3-2 in the Northeast District Finals played in Brockton.

Sophomore Charlie Swann was recognized after another strong season up top at forward for the Warriors. Swann finished with a team and region-high 14 goals and 32 points as the Englishmen closed out his two-year career with 33 goals, nine assists for a total of 75 points. He scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory in the Northeast District Semifinals vs Monroe CC.

Freshman Junior Pereira ended the season second on the team in goals (10) and points (26) and led the team in assists with six. The Brockton native produced a five-match stretch during the season in which he scored in every contest, totaling 20 points, featuring a three-goal, two-assist showing vs Quincy College.

David Isaac was a constant in net for the Warriors during his freshman campaign. The Haiti native and Brockton High School graduate played every minute of every match for the Warriors. Isaac totaled three clean sheets, totaled 69 saves and produced a 2.06 goals against average for the season.

Jonathan Carrere was a key cog in the midfield and defense, starting all 15 games for Massasoit in 2018. Carrere helped a defense post three shutouts and finished with a goal and four assists in his two seasons.

Another defensive contributor for the Warriors was sophomore Ismael Lobo. The Brockton defender helped in three shutouts taking place and he netted a goal and tallied two assists.  

Rounding out the all-region recipients for Massasoit is freshman Maldini Da Fonseca. Another Brockton native, Da Fonseca appeared in 11 matches, making 10 starts. He recorded four goals and five assists for a total of 13 points.
