Six Named To Men’s Soccer All-Region 21 Team

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Six members of the Massasoit men's soccer team were recently named to the All-Region 21 First Team, announced by the conference office.

Sidney Cardoso (Portugal), Ienik Spencer (Pawtucket, R.I.), Nathan Estrela (Falmouth), Kyle McGibbon (Jamaica), Ollie Dagraca (Brockton) and Edgar Lopez (Seekonk) were the Warriors selected to the all-region squad.

Massasoit captured the Region 21 Championship with a 3-1 victory against CCRI last weekend and will play at Monroe College in the Northeast District Semifinals on Saturday at 11 AM.

Sidney Cardoso, F, So.
Cardoso has produced an excellent sophomore season for the Warriors up top, topping the team in goals (19) and points (44), while also tying for the team lead in assists with six. The Portugal native has six multi-goal contests and has 35 goals, 14 assists for 84 points in his career at Massasoit. Cardoso is a two-time First Team All-Region 21 selection.

Ienik Spencer, F, So.
In his first year at Massasoit, Spencer has shined playing both at forward and in midfield. The Monroe CC transfer has scored 13 goals and dished out six assists for 32 points. Spencer's goal and point totals trail only Cardoso on the team and his tied for team-high honors with assists (6).

Nathan Estrela, D, So.
After sitting out last season, Estrela returned for his sophomore campaign in 2016 and has been a leader for the Warrior defense. The primary kicker on corner and free kicks, Estrela has been a key cog in Massasoit posting three shutouts. Estrela has added three assists on the year.

Kyle McGibbon, MF, So.
Playing his second year in Brockton, McGibbon has played defensive central midfield, throughout the season despite battling injuries. The vocal leader has started 14 games for the Warriors this season and played in 33 games for his career.

Edgar Lopez, MF, So.
Starting 14 games for the Warriors, Lopez has played in the central and outside midfield during the season. Lopez has totaled nine points on the year, netting four goals and dishing out an assist.

Ollie Dagraca, GK, Fr.
The freshman keeper started 12 matches, playing in a total of 13, allowing 1.30 goals per contest. Dagraca, another vocal leader for the Warriors, has been a part of three shutouts and tallied 62 saves playing in over 1,100 minutes of action.
