BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Joel Lobo (Brockton) tied a career-high with four goals as the Massasoit men's soccer team fired past MassBay CC, 8-0, at Warrior Field on Monday afternoon.

Lobo netted the first three goals for Massasoit (1-1), all coming within the first 16 minutes of action. His first three goals were set up by teammates Stephan Teixeira (Brockton), Zachary Dacunha (Somerset) and Julio Gomes (Brockton).

The Warriors took a commanding 4-0 lead into the locker room, as Fabio Cula (Brockton) found the back of the net on a through ball from Pepe Vieira (Brockton) to round out the first half scoring.

"The team came out and played with a little more confidence and was more relaxed," Massasoit head coach Rui Estrela said. "I think they kind of understand the concept we are teaching and once we started moving the ball, like we can, it was goal after goal after goal."

In the second half, Massasoit continued to find the back of the net as Lobo scored his fourth goal in the 50th minute, before setting up Teixeira three minutes later. Telmo Barbosa (Brockton) and Jean Barreau (Rockland) netted their first goals at Massasoit to put the final tally at 8-0.

Nathan Estrela (Falmouth) and Garret Arruda (Fall River) dished out the final two helpers in the win.

Overall, Massasoit was very efficient offensively, taking a total of 31 shots with 20 coming on net. Lobo took a team-high eight shots, all on goal.

Andre Reis (Fall River) and Arthur McNally (Canton) split the match in goal and combined on the team shutout for the Warriors.

"The first game (4-0 loss to Essex County) was a wake up call for us and you need that right out of the gate sometimes," Estrela said. "Moving forward we still need to clean some things up. In practice we will work on those small details and hopefully we are ready for Wednesday, because that is a big test for sure."

Massasoit hosts divisional rival CCRI on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Warrior Field.
