Men's Soccer Closes Regular Season On High Note

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Five different Warriors found the back of the net as the Massasoit CC men's soccer team blanked Bristol CC, 5-0, in the regular season finale on Friday afternoon.

The win upped Massasoit's record to 10-5-2, marking the eighth consecutive year under head coach Rui Estrela that the Warriors have reached a double-digit win total.

Joel Lobo (Brockton) netted his league-best 12th goal of the season off a rebound from Stephan Teixeira (Brockton) in the game's fourth minute of action to start the scoring spree.

From there, Massasoit would add first half goals from Wagner Amarante (Brockton) and John Corr (Brockton) to hold a commanding 3-0 advantage at intermission.

The second half was more of the same for the Warriors, as the home team controlled tempo and possession of the ball. Edmar "Pepe" Vieira (Brockton) pushed the lead to 4-0, connecting on a free kick outside the 18-yard box just three minutes into the second half.  Teixiera rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 66th minute off a pass from Gabriel Pereira-Gomes (Brockton).

Massasoit fired off 27 total shots, 13 coming on goal.

The Warrior defense, led by keeper Torrey Medeiros (Dartmouth), held the opposition scoreless and to just five total shots.
