CHAUTAUQUA, New York ---- Massasoit's Chris McMorrow remains in striking distance of the lead at the NJCAA Men's Golf National Championship, after shooting a second day score 79 (+7) at the Chautauqua Country Club on Wednesday.

Paired with his first day 76 (+4), the sophomore's two-day total of 155 (+11) is just five shots behind leader Trey Capps of Sandhills Community College, who sits 6-over par through two days of tourney action.

On Wednesday, McMorrow battled through difficult rain conditions through the first four holes, shooting 3-over during that stretch before a rain delay was called lasting just over two hours.

Following the delay due inclement weather, McMorrow returned right back to his first day grove as he shot 4-over the rest of the way to finish with a 79. In six career rounds at Chautauqua County Club, the Weymouth native has now posted four sub-80 scorecards.

After tallying three bogeys in the first four holes along with one par, he recorded two birdies, eight pars, two bogeys and two double bogeys the rest of the way for a 79. McMorrow parred out the final four holes to keep his round under 80 for the day.

McMorrow produced an impressive stretch between the ninth and 10th holes. He chipped in from the sand on the 9th-hole for birdie, then had an eagle putt on 10 lip out and tapped in for consecutive birdies.

He tees off at 10:28 AM on Thursday for the third round.
