SOUTHWICK, Mass. ----- Chris McMorrow carded an 87 to lead the Massasoit men's golf team as the Warriors sit tied with Holyoke Community College atop the leaderboard after day one of the two-day Region 21 Championship held at The Ranch Golf Club.

McMorrow of Weymouth, finished the opening round tied for third individually, trailing only Northern Essex's Brandon Mullarkey and Anthony Calvani.

The Warriors received a big lift from a pair of multi-sport athletes from Massasoit. Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) who also played on the Warrior baseball and basketball teams the past two season, fired a season-low 90 to place second on the team.

Ricky Sherlock (Whitman), who played baseball at Massasoit in 2017 and 2018, rolled in a 97, while Dan McColgan of Whitman finished with a 116.

Day two of the tournament begins on Wednesday at 9 AM. The team champion along with the top six individuals advance to the NJCAA National Championship, hosted at Chautauqua Country Club (New York) from June 4-7.
