Massasoit Golf Leads Region 21 Tournament After Opening Round

CRANSTON, R.I. ---- Shawn McIsaac (Avon) fired an 81 to push the Massasoit golf team to an opening round lead of the Region 21 Tournament hosted at Cranston Country Club by CCRI.

McIsaac rolled in a 37 on the front nine on the way to his team-best score on Tuesday as all four Warriors scored in the 80s on the first round of the two-day tourney. McIsaac's score finished tied for second on the day as Nick Barber of MassBay tallied the low round of 77.

Chris Flipp (Weymouth) shot an 84, followed by Chris McMorrow's (Weymouth) 87 and 2017 NJCAA Tournament qualifier Jack DeCoste (Sandwich) carded an 88 to round out the Massasoit scores.

Massasoit's team score of 340 holds a slight edge over MassBay (346), while CCRI sits in third at 376.

The second and final round takes place on Tuesday, with tee times starting at 10 AM.

The winner of the Region 21 Tournament earns an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament held at Chautauqua Country Club in Chautauqua, New York, from June 4-8.
