WAYLAND, Mass. ---- The Massasoit golf team captured its first team victory in program history, edging MassBay Community College by 15 strokes at the Wayland Country Club on Tuesday.

As a team, the Warriors finished with a school record low score of 317, as MassBay posted a 332, in Massasoit's first match of the 2018 season. Massasoit's previous top team score was 375, set during the final round of the 2015 Region 21 Championship.

"It feels good to get off on the right as we start a new chapter in Massasoit golf," head coach Mike Croatti said. "A chapter that hopefully breeds a lot more success than we have seen in the past. I believe we have the players to compete at a high level this year. Each golfer brings a strong golf pedigree to the table and I am hoping that propels this squad to new heights."

Chris McMorrow (Weymouth) led the Warriors, carding a match-low and school record 76, tallying a 38 on both the front and back nine. McMorrow's 76 breaks Jack DeCoste's record of 79 he set last year in the final round of the Region 21 Championship.

Shawn McIsaac (Avon) finished with the third lowest score of the match, posting a 79, followed by Chris Flipp (Weymouth) and Jack DeCoste (Sandwich) each recording an 81.

Nick Baker topped MassBay with a 77.
