BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Mike Croatti of Stoughton has been selected as the new Massasoit Community College head golf coach, recently announced by Athletics Director Julie Mulvey.

Croatti, originally from Southborough, comes to Massasoit with a wide array of coaching, playing and employment experience in the field of college athletics.

"It is truly an unreal opportunity to get involved with the Massasoit golf program," Croatti said. "Being such a competitive person and not having a chance to play organized sports anymore, getting to stay involved in sports at the coaching level means a lot to me."

Although his primary head coaching experience is in the sport of baseball, Croatti has been an avid golfer for the past 20 years and is excited for the opportunity to coach collegiate golf for the Warriors.

"Golf has been a great sport for me in particular because it is an ageless activity that I can continue to challenge myself at," Croatti said. "It is a sport that provides the opportunity to connect with so many people, which I look forward to doing as a coach at Massasoit."

Croatti became involved with Massasoit Athletics this past fall when he started working game days at the scorer's table during Warrior basketball contests.

"Mike seems like the perfect fit to coach our golf team this upcoming spring," Athletics Director Julie Mulvey said. "He has a great background in coaching and in college athletics and I think will be able to easily connect with our student-athletes. His passion and energy is exactly what we are looking for here at Massasoit."

Most recently, Croatti's coaching experience has been serving as head coach of the Slugger's Academy U13 AAU team, located in Medfield, Mass., for the past two years. He has also been a head coach in the Showcase Baseball League for the Massachusetts Division for the past five years.

Other coaching experience, includes being a graduate assistant coach for both football and baseball at Framingham State from 2007-09 and Algonquin High School freshman baseball head coach in 2010.

While at Framingham State, Croatti received a master's degree in human resource management in 2010.

In addition, he completed internships for the New England Patriots and Naval Academy following graduation from Colby-Sawyer College in 2005.

At CSC, he graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in sports management and was a four-year left-handed pitcher for the Chargers where he was teammates with current Massasoit Assistant Athletics Director Ben Warnick

Currently, Croatti is employed by Coca-Cola as a Market Development Manager for the greater Boston area and resides in Stoughton with his wife, Jess.

Croatti replaces Chris Ballerini, who coached the Warriors for the 2015 campaign that saw Mike Cappadona qualify for the NJCAA Nationals.
