BELLINGHAM, Mass. ---- Freshmen Mike Cappadona (Foxboro) and Mike Thibeault (Halifax) finished in the top-10 to highlight the Massasoit CC golf team competing at the New England Country Club hosted by Dean College on Tuesday.
Cappadona shot a team-best 80 (+8), which tied for fourth overall amongst the 23 golfers from five community colleges that competed on Tuesday.
Thibeault carded the second lowest score for Massasoit, firing an 86 (+14) to finish tied for 10th.
"Cappadona ripped it up out there for us today," head coach Chris Ballerini said. "And Thibeault had a pretty good day also. I think for our first time out there we played pretty good overall. We are still working out some kinks but I think the guys were just happy to get out on the course and play. The course was in great shape, but it was a pretty tough, especially on the greens."
Massasoit will play this Thursday at the Chicopee Country Club as the tournament will be hosted by Holyoke CC.
Overall, four other community colleges took part in Tuesday's match, including: Dean College, MassBay CC, CCRI and Holyoke CC.
Steven Leherle of CCRI took match medalist honors, shooting a match-low 77 (+5). Leherle was followed by Austin McCreary of Dean (78) and Mike Kurson (79) of MassBay. Massasoit's Cappadona tied for fourth with Alex Greenwood of CCRI.
