Men’s Basketball Overcomes 19-Point Deficit to Defeat Roxbury, 64-60

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team fell behind by 19 points in the first half, but rallied to capture a 64-60 victory vs Roxbury CC on Thursday night inside the Peter Asiaf Field House.

The Warriors used a second half spark from Taymien Chery and two big 3s from Sam Murphy to split the season series with the visiting Tigers.

Massasoit led early 3-0 off a Bryan Tyrie 3-pointer, but quickly fell behind, with its largest deficit of 32-13 coming late in the first half. Roxbury led 37-22 at the break.

Following intermission, the Warriors slowly chipped away, and took their first lead since the opening minute of the contest when Murphy drained a 3-pointer from the corner to take a 58-57 advantage with under three minutes to play.

Clutch free throws by Tyrie and Gilbert Minaya helped secure the Massasoit victory in the final minute.

Tyrie led Massasoit with 19 points, which featured going 8-of-9 from the charity stripe. Nathaniel Semedo added 16 points, including four 3s and Minaya added 11 points in the win.

Massasoit hosts Holyoke on Saturday at 3 PM.
