BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team captured a must-win vs the University of Connecticut at Avery Point, 85-55, on Thursday night at the Peter Asiaf Field House.

The Warriors, vying for one of the six playoff positions in Region 21, improved to 11-12 with the victory and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Massasoit raced out to a 45-23 lead at the half and never looked back.

Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) scored 18 of his 23 points in the opening stanza and buried five 3-pointers.

Mark Georges (Brockton) led all scorers with 25, while Malik Ibrahim (Brockton) netted 15 points in his first career start. Massasoit also received strong play from guard Gilbert Minaya (Lynn) who finished with 12 points.

The Warriors return to the hardwood on Saturday, hosting Quinsigamond at 3 PM.
