BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid by defeating the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, 77-72, on Monday night at the Peter Asiaf Field House.
Massasoit moved above the .500 mark, improving to 10-9 (10-9 R21) overall with the win.
BFIT (7-15, 5-13 R21) led 29-28 at the break as Tommy Rijo netted 10 of his team-best 20 points prior to intermission.
In the second half, Massasoit trailed 51-47 with 10:36 mark before embarking on a 19-5 run to build up a 12-point lead, 68-56, with just under five minutes left in the contest.
Despite a bevy of late 3s by BFIT's Jonathan Mola, the Warriors hung on for the five-point victory.
Mark Georges (Brockton) was a force for the Warriors, pouring in a game-high 25 points, featuring five made 3-pointers. He added six boards, four assists and four steals to his impressive stat line.
Darrell Knight (Weymouth) added a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards and Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) chipped in with 15 points.
Massasoit is off until Thursday, when the Warriors host CCRI at 5:30 PM.
