HAVERHILL, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team buried 15 3-pointers and five student-athletes scored in double figures on the way to earning an 88-74 road victory at Northern Essex.
The win propelled Massasoit to 9-7 overall and in league play, while the Knights dropped to 7-12 (7-10 R21).
Darrell Knight (Weymouth) topped the Warriors with a career-high 24 points, making 8-of-12 shots, and added six boards and four assists to his stat line.
Gilbert Minaya (Lynn) also reached the 20-point plateau, finishing with 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds. The freshman was a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown.
Lorenzo Espinoza (Stoughton) added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) added 15 points, nine boards and five assists. Stephane Jeune (Brighton) added four 3-poitners in the victory.
The Warriors shot a blistering 53.8 percent from the floor, and actually shot even better from 3-point range, making 15 of 25 for a season-best 60 percent from long range.
Massasoit tied a season-low with only nine turnovers on the afternoon.
Northern Essex was paced by Guney Kilitcioglu's 19 points.
