Warriors Hold Off Knights in 91-84 Victory

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Gilbert Minaya scored a career and game-high 26 points as the Massasoit men's basketball team survived a late surge by Northern Essex to defeat the Knights 91-84 at The Pete on Saturday afternoon.

The win marked the first of the season for the Warriors as they improve to 1-2 (1-2 R21) on the season and play at Benjamin Franklin Insitute of Technology on Tuesday at 8 PM.

The Warriors held a 42-39 halftime lead, thanks to Rollsky Edouard scoring all 13 of his points prior to intermission.

In the second half, Massasoit would lead by as much as 16 points, but saw that advantage evaporate in the game's final minute. 

However, Mark Georges and Gilbert Minaya made clutch free throws to secure the victory.

Minaya led four Warriors in double figures with his 26 points. Georges added 18 points, going a perfect 10 for 10 at the foul line in the second half. Bobby Belezos chipped in with 15 points.

Northern Essex (2-3, 2-1 R21) was led offensively by Guney Kilitcioglu's 22 points.
