ROXBURY, Mass. ---- Behind a career-high 27 points from sophomore center Mark Munroe (Quincy) the Massasoit men's basketball team won its fifth straight game, earning an 88-72 victory at Roxbury on Thursday night.

Munroe shot 12 of 18 from the floor on his way to a game-high 27 points, 20 coming in the first half, and added 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

Beyond the big man's dominance in the paint, the Warriors shot well from the floor, setting season-highs in field goal percentage (50.9), 3-point percentage (47.1) and free throws made (24).

Offensively, Rollsky Edouard (Holbrook) was next in scoring for the Warriors, making four 3s as part of a 19-point effort. Rael Handy (Easton) added 15 points, going a perfect 10 for 10 at the foul line and dished out seven assists, while Mark Georges (Avon) netted 13 points.

Jovani Harper-Lopez of Randolph added nine points off a trio of 3-pointers and pulled down a team-best 13 boards in the team's fifth straight win.

Massasoit led 47-29 at the half.

RCC finished with three players scoring 19-or-more points, led by Lawrence Cherry's 25.

The five wins in a row marked the longest win streak by the Warriors since the 2013-14 squad won five straight.

Over the last five games, the Massasoit defense has held the opposition to just 57.8 points per game, with Roxbury being the only opponent to surpass 70 points over that stretch.

Not only has Massasoit won five straight games this season, but the Warriors have now defeated Roxbury in each of the last five meetings.

Massasoit hosts Holyoke on Saturday at 1 PM.
