PORTSMOUTH, N.H. ---- Sophomore Mike Ward (Brockton) produced a career-high 40 points to lead the Massasoit men's basketball team to a 107-79 road victory against Great Bay CC.
Massasoit improved to 5-3 with the victory and will trek to Bristol CC on Thursday for a game at 8 PM.
Ward scored 19 in the first half and followed that up with a 21-point effort after intermission for his career-high 40 point total. The Brockton native was 17 of 29 from the field and pulled down 14 rebounds (10 offensive) for his fifth double-double of the season.
The Warriors dominated the painted area, pulling down 53 rebounds, 25 coming on the offensive glass. Four players finished with seven or more rebounds, led by Ward's 14.
Three other Warriors reached double figures, with Andrew Groh (East Bridgewater) adding 16, Jovani Harper-Lopez (Randolph) with 15 and Omar Jules (Brockton) chipping in with 12.
Massasoit led 51-39 at the break.
The Warriors reached the century mark in a victory for the first time since January 12, 2013, when Massasoit defeated Holyoke, 109-43.
