Jackson Pours In 35 As Massasoit Men Hold Off Great Bay, 96-86

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomore Leland Jackson (Atlanta) poured in a career-high 35 points as the Massasoit men's basketball team held off pesky Greaty Bay CC, 96-86, on Saturday afternoon.

The win ups Massasoit's record to 7-5 on the season to close out the fall semester.

Jackson scored 15 in the first half and followed that up with 20 after the break. He also buried a career-best five 3s, four in the second half, in the victory.

Massasoit held a 37-33 lead at the break.

In the second half, both teams lite up the scoreboard. Colin Campbell (Holbrook) scored 14 of his 18 in the second stanza, while Paul Bentley (Bloomfield, Conn.) netted 11 of his 16 points following the break.

Great Bay (3-10) hung around thanks to the 3-point shot, making 12 for the game, sinking eight in the second half.

Massasoit was able to match the sharp shooting of the Herons, making 12 3-pointers of its own and used a strong push to close out with the double-digit win.

Anthony Shea was a sniper from downtown for Great Bay, making seven treys en route to 27 points. Karim Winn led the Herons with 29 points.

John Barbosa (Brockton) scored eight points in the first half for the Warriors, while M'Kenzi Ryan (Brockton) came up with six big points late in the contest.
