Gateway Bests Men’s Basketball In Closing Seconds, 64-63

NEW HAVEN, Conn. ---- Gateway sank two free throws with 4.2 seconds left to defeat the Massasoit men's basketball team, 64-63, on Saturday.

Massasoit (7-10, 7-9) had a chance to win the game with 1.5 second left from half court, but the Warriors were unable to get a shot off.

Trey Jones (Mattapan) led Massasoit with 28 points including five 3-pointers. The sophomore shot 9-for-20 from the field and 5-for-8 from downtown.

Freshman Ralph Wilson Jr. (Boston) had a career-high game off the bench for the Warriors. The guard netted a career-best 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Jahleel Moise (Brockton) chipped in with four points, 11 boards and 12 blocks, while Mike Ward (Brockton) netted seven in the loss.

Massasoit led 31-27 at the half.

The Warriors return to the hardwood on Thursday with a trip to Northern Essex slated for 6 p.m.
