WATERTOWN, Mass. —— The Massasoit baseball team received two outstanding pitching performances, including a one-hitter from Ian Nadeau to sweep a doubleheader vs NHTI by a pair of identical 3-0 shutouts on Saturday afternoon at Victory Field.

The sweep ups Massasoit's record to 3-7 overall as the Warriors are now off until Saturday when they host CCRI at Columbo Field.

"Today was an incredible performance by Ian," head coach Kraig Kupiec said. "He had command of all his pitches, hit his spots, and worked ahead all afternoon. Both starters gave us an incredible effort.

"It's great to begin our northern schedule with some wins. We are looking to continue working hard all season and getting better each and every day."

Game 1: Massasoit 3, NHTI 0

Ian Nadeau (Brockton) fired a complete game one-hitter with 10 strikeouts to give Massasoit the game one win.

Nadeau (2-0) allowed only two base runners through his seven innings of work, a walk in the second inning and a one-out single in the seventh that spoiled his no-hitter bid. Between the only two base runners that reached, Nadeau retired 16 in a row from the second to seventh frames. 

The righty from Brockton fanned 10, recording at least one strikeout in six of the seven innings, and punched out the last two batters to persevere the complete game shutout. The victory upped his record to 2-0 on the young season. 

The offense was provided by sophomore Aidan O'Neill (Halifax), who launched a two-out, two-run homer in the last of the third. Massasoit added an insurance run in the sixth, scored by Nadeau.

Game 2: Massasoit 3, NHTI 0

Francisco Navarro (Panama) followed Nadeau's impressive outing with a complete game shutout of his own as the Warriors earned the twinbill sweep.

Navarro (1-1) went all seven innings, allowing only four hits, one walk and striking out six to earn his first collegiate victory. He never allowed more than one base running in an inning and retired eight of the final nine batters he faced in the shutout.

Richie Wood of Brockton laced a two-run single in the bottom of the first and Luke DiTondo (Marshfield) provided a sac fly in the fourth to account for the Warrior offense.
