Bergen Battles Past Massasoit Baseball, 18-11

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ---- Bergen Community College used a six-run sixth-inning to break away from the Massasoit baseball team, 18-11, on Sunday night at the Cap Ripken Complex.

A game that saw plenty of run scored, Massasoit (1-3) trailed 10-4 entering the top of the fifth. The first nine batters reached and Bergen used three different pitchers in the frame, as the Warriors scored seven runs in the frame by use of only three hits.

Bergen responded right back, however, scoring twice in the fifth and then tacking on six more runs in the sixth to earn the 18-11 win.

The Warriors finished with only four hits, despite scoring 11 runs as the Bergen pitching staff issued 12 walks during the contest.

Jonathan O'Donnell (Hull) went 2-for-5 and scored twice and Jose Santana (Marlborough) roped a two-run double. Aidan O'Neill (Halifax) drew three walks and knocked in one as five Warriors drew two or more walks.

James Sneyd (Scituate) suffered the loss, working the first five frames and fanning five.
