MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ---- Ian Nadeau (Brockton) pitched six solid innings and Richie Wood (Brockton) knocked in three as the Massasoit baseball team picked up the first win of the season, 7-1, vs Mohawk Valley CC on Sunday afternoon at the Cap Ripken Experience Complex.

The win improved the Warriors to 1-2 on the season, and marked the first victory for head coach Kraig Kupiec leading the Warriors.

In his first collegiate start, Nadeau went the first six frames, yielding only one run off six hits. The freshman retired the side in order in three of his six innings on the mound, fanned five and walked just two to earn his first career victory.

At the dish, Wood went 2-for-3, including a double and three RBI. His two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth added some insurance runs for the Warriors.

Luke DiTondo (Marshfield) added a pair of hits and scored a run, while Jonathan O'Donnell (Hull) and David Logan (Dedham) each collected one RBI.

DJ Lopes (New Bedford) pitched a perfect seventh inning to close out the win.

Tied up 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Nadeau and Wood ripped back-to-back doubles to start the inning to give the Warriors a lead they would not relinquish. Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) singled and later scored on a wild pitch and Logan added a RBI ground out to put Massasoit up 4-1.

From there, Nadeau and Lopes allowed only two base runners over the final three frames to secure the win.
