Big First Inning & Tinker’s Pitching Performance Lead Warriors by Bunker Hill, 10-2

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and received a stellar complete game performance on the mound from John Tinker (Weymouth) as the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 10-2 in game one of a doubleheader.

Game two was called due to inclement weather and will be made up at a later date.

The victory puts Massasoit at 12-10 overall for the season and 8-2 in league play.

Tinker (2-1) went the distance for the Warriors, giving up two earned runs off only four hits. The freshman struck out five, walked four and retired the side in order in three of his seven frames of work.

The first inning was a merry-go-round for Massasoit as 13 batters took hacks against Bunker Hill. Pat Matthews and Luis Ramirez, both from Dedham, each knocked in two in the eight-run first, while Bryan Dwyer (Abington), Rickey Sherlock (Whitman) and Nick Andrews (Raynham) all added RBI base knocks as well.

Ramirez finished 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, Dwyer added two hits and knocked in two and leadoff man Luke Lewando (Brockton) scored four times in the win.

The Warriors play at CCRI on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
