Offense Explodes in Baseball's 14-4 Win Against Quinsigamond

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit baseball team roped 19 hits in a 14-4 league victory against Quinsigamond in the home opener for the Warriors on Wednesday afternoon.

A total of six Warriors posted multi-hit games as sophomore Bryan Dwyer (Abington) was a homer shy of cycle with two RBI and freshman Luis Ramirez (Dedham) roped three doubles in the win.

Dylan Ashburn (Norton) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Nick Andrews (Raynham) and Jimmy Lawless (Hull) each chipped with two hits. All nine batters in the Warriors lineup scored a run and had at least one hit.

Deadlocked at 3-3, entering the bottom of the fifth, Massasoit exploded for 11 runs over the next three innings. During the three-inning outburst, Jack DeCoste (Sandwich) ripped two two-run singles as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate.

Johnny Rivera (Puerto Rico) picked up the win, tossing 3.0 innings of relief work, walking three and striking out three and allowing only one earned run to earn his first win of the season. Rivera took over for John Tinker (Weymouth), who went the first three frames and yielded only one earned run.

Massasoit returns to Colombo Field to face Holyoke CC on Thursday at 3:30 PM.
