BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomore southpaw Jake Stearns (Plymouth) of the Massasoit baseball team was recently named an NJCAA Second Team All-American announced by the national office.
Stearns produced a sensational second season with the Warriors, posting a 6-2 record with a 2.14 ERA. The southpaw totaled a league-best 73 strikeouts to just 15 walks in 63 innings for the Warriors. Stearns made nine appearances, all starts, and fired six complete games. He also struck out at least 10 batters four times and fired a perfect game with a career-high 13 strikeouts against MassBay CC on April 9.
For his two-year career, Stearns finished with an 8-7 record, 3.03 ERA and 130 strikeouts in 115.2 innings pitched.
