Baseball Falls At Quinsigamond To Close Out Regular Season

AUBURN, Mass. ---- Quinsigamond CC scored five runs in the first and hung out to outlast the Massasoit baseball team, 8-6, on Sunday at Auburn High School.

The loss concludes the regular season for Massasoit, giving the Warriors an overall record of 17-17. Despite falling on Sunday, the Warriors had already qualified for the two-team Region 21 Tournament, in which the Warriors will play a best-of-three game series hosted by Northern Essex.

Massasoit finished Sunday's contest with 12 hits as a team, featuring three-hit games from Tyler Morini (Plymouth) and Jon Hurley (Plainville). Dylan Ashburn (Norton) added a pair of doubles and Justin Martinho (Dighton) knocked in a pair.

The Wyverns batted around in the bottom of the first, scoring five times off six hits to own an early advantage and would hold the lead the rest of the way.

Liam Richmond (Hingham) pitched well in relief for the Warriors, allowing one run over three innings of work to go along with four strikeouts.

The Warriors will play game one of the series against Northern Essex on Friday, slated for 3:30 p.m. in Haverhill, Mass.
