FRANKLIN, Mass. —— Dean College used late inning surges to sweep a doubleheader against the visiting Massasoit Warriors by scores of 2-1 and 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Massasoit dropped to 2-10 overall on the season and will host Holyoke CC on Saturday, April 2 in a doubleheader starting at Noon.

Game 1: Dean 2, Massasoit 1

Jake Stearns (Plymouth) held the Bulldogs's bats at bay through the first six innings, but Dean broke a 1-1 tie in its final at bat to earn the walk-off 2-1 victory.

Stearns (1-2) suffered the bad beat loss, working 6.2 innings, allowing two runs, only one earned, off six hits. The sophomore lefty struck out four and walked four in his third start of the season.

Massasoit trailed 1-0 entering the seventh inning. In the Warriors' final at bat, Justin Martinho (Dighton) started things off with a double. Dylan Ashburn (Norton) followed by singling home pinch runner Mike Nader (Hollywood, Fla.) for the team's lone run of the game to even up the score.

In the last of the seventh, Dean broke the tie as Austin Crowinshield scored with two outs.

Colby Smith earned the win for the Bulldogs, tossing a complete game five-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks.

Game 2: Dean 7, Massasoit 2

Tied up 1-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, Dean exploded for six runs as the Bulldogs earned the twinbill sweep.

Starter Zack Reid (0-3) was in control through his first five innings of work, yielding only one run off four hits during that span. However, things unraveled for the Warriors in the sixth as the Bulldogs batted around plating six runs off five hits.

Reid fanned seven but walked six in the loss.

Kevin Huscher (Middleboro) went 2-for-4 as the Warriors managed just three hits off three different Dean pitchers.
