AUBURN, Mass. ---- Tom Protentis tossed six innings of one-hit ball to help the Massasoit baseball team earn a split with Quinsigamond CC on Saturday. The Wyverns won game one 13-4 and the Warriors claimed game two, 9-1.

Game 1: Quinsigamond 13, Massasoit 4
Massasoit jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first off a sac fly by Sean Manning (Avon), but Quinsigamond plated nine runs over a three-inning span to take game one.

Starter Zach Reid (Dighton) struggled with command, as the righty went the first four frames, walking seven and striking out three.  Reid dropped to 2-4 on the season.

The big blow to the Warriors came in the fourth, when QCC's Derek Reardon hit a bases clearing triple to put the game out of reach.

Al Carey (East Bridgewater) did his job at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Matt Levasseur (Milton) added a pair of RBI in the loss.

Game 2: Massasoit 9, Quinsigamond 1
The tides turned in game two for the Warriors, as Tom Protentis (Lakeville) yielded only one hit over six frames of work and the Massasoit lineup did some damage exploding for 13 hits in a 9-1 win.

Massasoit put up three in the top of the first as Justin Martinho (Dighton) rocketed a bases clearing double to right-center field to put the Warriors in the driver's seat early.

The three-run first was more than enough run support for Protentis. The sophomore went the first 5.2 innings without allowing a hit, until Jordan Edmonds singled to right field for Quinsigamond.

Protentis, who improved to 3-1 on the year, allowed one earned run off one hit to go along with eight strikeouts. Mike Nader (Hollywood, Fla.) pitched a scoreless seventh for the Warriors.

Martinho finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, while Carey, Dave Murphy (Plymouth), Levasseur and Joe Commesso (Bourne) all added two hits.

Levasseur knocked in three, while Murphy scored three times.
