BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomore Dave Murphy (Plymouth) slugged a pair of homers, but Quinsigamond CC scored 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings as the Massasoit CC baseball team suffered an 11-6 setback on Monday.

Massasoit (4-11) led 2-1 entering the top of the fifth, thanks to a Quinsigamond passed ball in the second and a solo shot from Murphy in the fourth.

In the fifth, the Wyverns scored five times to take a commanding 6-2 lead over the home Warriors.

Massasoit responded in the last half of the fifth, scoring five runs of its own. Joe Commesso (Bourne) came home on a pitching balk before Sean Manning (Avon) scored on a RBI double by Tyler Morini (Plymouth).

The next batter was Murphy, who hit a towering two-run bomb to left to bring the game square at 6-6.

The tie game was short lived, though, as Quinsigamond touched home five more times in the top of the sixth as the Warriors were forced to use three pitchers in the inning.

Corey Walker (North Attleboro) escaped the sixth in relief and went on to fire 3.2 innings of hitless work out of the bullpen. The lefty struck out five and walked two out of the bullpen.

Jake Stearns (0-4) of Plymouth, suffered the loss on the hill for Massasoit. The southpaw worked 5-plus innings, striking out nine, but allowing eight runs, seven of which were earned.

At the dish, Murphy was the lone Warrior with a multiple-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a solo and two-run blast accounting for his three RBI.
