Massasoit Baseball Clicks In 10-2 Win Against Ontario Baseball

VERO BEACH, Fla. ---- Through the first seven games of its 10-game Spring Training trip, the Massasoit baseball team had been unable to put a complete game together. That all changed on Wednesday afternoon, as the Warriors topped the Ontario Baseball Club 10-2 at the Historic Dodgertown Complex.

Massasoit (1-7) had dropped the first seven games of the road trip and managed just 10 total runs over that span. But on Wednesday, the Warriors bats woke up to the tune of 10 runs.

"Everything clicked today," Massasoit head coach Tom Frizzell said. "We've been working hard in practice and in games to correct our mistakes. (After today's success) what you are looking for now is carry over."

In his second start of the season, Zack Reid of Dighton (1-1) bounced back from a rough first appearance to fire a complete game five-hitter. The right-hander fanned seven and did not walk a batter to earn his first collegiate victory.

Sophomore catcher Nick Oliveira (New Bedford) went perfect at the plate, going a career-best 4-for-4 day and drove in two.

Sean Manning (Avon) did his job in the cleanup spot, knocking in a career-best three runs in the victory.

"Everyone did what they had to do. We pitched well, we hit and we only made one error. Overall it was a great team performance," Frizzell said.
