VERO BEACH, Fla. ---- Despite a dominant 11-strikeout performance by Massasoit starter Jake Stearns (Plymouth), the Warriors fell 1-0 to Riverland CC on Saturday.

Stearns (0-1) was masterful on the mound, totaling 11 strikeouts, but an unearned run in the fourth inning proved to be the difference.

The lefty yielded just the one unearned run off five hits, all singles. He struck out the side in both the second and sixth frames, and punched out at least one batter in all six innings of work on the mound.

After allowing a leadoff single to start the ballgame, the southpaw retired eight of the next nine batters, fanning six over that stretch.

Massasoit (0-4) was held to just two hits, singles by Dave Murphy (Plymouth) and Michael Scibilio (Sagamore).
