Baseball Clubs Mass Bay CC, 16-1

BOSTON ---- Freshman Brent Eaton threw a two-hitter over six innings and received more than enough offense as the Massasoit Community College baseball team defeated Mass Bay, 16-1, on Thursday afternoon.

Massasoit improved to 16-9 with the victory and an impressive 10-1 against Region XXI divisional opponents.

Eaton, a Plymouth native, went the first six frames and totaled four strikeouts. The right-hander did not walk a batter and yielded only one run off the two hits. Collin Ross (Marshfield) fired the seventh inning to close out the contest.

"Eaton pitched great," head coach Tom Frizzell said. "He got stronger as the game went on. He actually recorded his first strikeout in the fifth and he ended up striking out the side."

On offense, the top of the order took care of the Buccaneers. Leadoff hitter Travis Ritchie (Taunton) went 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Patrick Murray (Weymouth) roped three hits and knocked in three, while Luke Nagle (Pembroke) finished 2-for-3 with one RBI on the afternoon.
