Tarr Strikeouts 15 In Massasoit's Win Over Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. ---- Starter David Tarr fired seven innings of one-hit ball with 15 strikeouts and the Massasoit Community College baseball team supplied more than enough offense in a 15-5 win at Quinsigamond Community College on Wednesday afternoon.

Massasoit evened up its overall record to 7-7 on the season and will host the University of Connecticut at Avery Point on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Brockton.

Quinsigamond held the Warriors' lineup in check through the first two innings, before exploding for five runs in the third and five more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

On the mound, Tarr (Easton) was electric for Massasoit, pitching a no-hitter into the seventh. With one out in the last of the seventh frame the southpaw surrendered his lone hit of the day. He worked seven innings, walked two, allowed the one hit and struck out a season-high 15.

"Tarr was outstanding today," head coach Tom Frizzell said. "He took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and really kept his pitch count low through the first six. He had a really good fastball and recorded a lot of strikeouts with his change up. He was on his A game today."

Sam Devine (Taunton) pitched the final two innings for the Warriors.

Massasoit sported three players with three-hit games in Patrick Murray (Weymouth), David Murphy (Plymouth) and Luke Nagle (Pembroke). Murray knocked in three and scored twice and Murphy recorded two RBI in the win.

Trevor Packard (Brockton) chipped in with two hits and two RBI for the Warriors.
