Overall Record: 271-186

Jim Stapleton enters his 19th season as the Massasoit head men’s basketball coach in 2019-20 and ranks as the all-time winningest coach in Warrior men’s basketball history.

The 2017-18 campaign under Stapleton was a historic season, advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history by way of capturing the program's second-ever Region 21 title in men's basketball.

Earning the No. 7 seed at Nationals, Massasoit closed out the three-day tournament, knocking off No. 8 seed Minnesota West, 91-86, marking the program's first NJCAA National Tournament victory.

At the Region 21 Tournament, the Warriors held off tournament-host Bunker Hill, 82-80, before winning the title in instant-classic fashion, defeating top seed Bristol, 77-74, in overtime. Rael Handy earned tournament MVP honors, while Rollsky Edouard and Mark Munroe earn spots on the all-tournament team.

Massasoit posted an 18-5 record during the regular season, posting winning streaks of nine and seven games in 2017-18. Those winning streaks and the team's success was built on defense, as the Warriors ranked fifth in the nation in opponent's field goal percentage (39.6) and sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (29.7), while holding teams to 69.7 points per game.

Stapleton was awarded the NJCAA Division III District 8 Coach of the Year by leading the Warriors to a 21-8 overall record, claiming the Region 21 title and guiding Massasoit to its first-ever NJCAA National Tournament.

Stapleton’s teams have shown great consistency over his tenure at Massasoit, posting winning records in 13 of 18 seasons. As head coach of the Warriors, Stapleton has amassed a 258-172 overall record. His teams have won 17 or more games eight times and reached the 20-win plateau on three occassions during his time in Brockton.

In 2014, the Massasoit men’s basketball all-time wins leader picked up his 200th career victory at Massasoit, when the Warriors defeated Dean College on February 4, 2014 in a dramatic one-point victory.

In his first season at Massasoit, Stapleton’s team posted a 9-14 record. Since then, the Warriors have been one of the strongest teams in the region, capturing the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) Championship four times. Three of those state titles came in a row from 2003-04 to 2005-06. The Warriors also won the state championship in 2010-11 and went on to capture the Region XXI Championship for the first time in program lore.

In total, Stapleton has coached 35 players to earn All-Region XXI accolades, including all-region selections Bobby Belezos and Mark Georges last season.

In addition, Stapleton is the head coach of the Massasoit women’s soccer program.
