Year: Fourth Season

Mike Croatti enters his fourth year as the head men's golf coach at Massasoit.

The 2018 Massasoit golf team produced a historic season, as the Warriors captured the program's first-ever Region 21 Championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament. At Nationals, Massasoit finished ninth overall as a team, while freshman Chris McMorrow was the top individual, placing 34th during the four-day tournament. On the first day at Nationals, McMorrow fired a school record and 2018 Region 21 record-low 75.

Massasoit advanced to Nationals by edging MassBay in the two-day Region 21 Tournament hosted at Cranston Country Club in Cranston, R.I. The Warriors held off the Buccanneers by seven strokes as Chris Flipp placed fourth overall for the tourney and McMorrow finished sixth.

In 2017, Croatti saw Jack DeCoste become the second-ever Warrior golfer to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament. DeCoste finished sixth overall at the Region 21 Tournament at Chicopee Country Club. On the second day of the two-day tourney, DeCoste carded a 79, the lowest round in program history. For his efforts he went and competed at Nationals, placing 78th overall. DeCoste set records for individual low round and NJCAA National Tournament four-day total last season.

In his first year guiding the Warrior golfers, Croatti coached sophomore Mike Barry, who became Massasoit’s first-ever two-time Region 21 Tournament qualifier. Barry, who finished 22nd overall at the tournament, held at The Ranch Country Club (Southwick, Mass.), was one of just four golfers from Region 21 to compete in consecutive regional tournaments.

In addition, Croatti coached freshman Cam Mariani to a top-10 finish at the New England Country Club hosted by Dean College on April 19th. Mariani fired a season-low 90.

Croatti came to Massasoit with an extensive coaching resume. Although a majority of his previous head coaching experience is in the sport of baseball, Croatti has been an avid golfer for the past 20 years.

Most recently, Croatti’s coaching experience has been serving as head coach of the Slugger’s Academy U13 AAU team, located in Medfield, Mass., for the past two years. He has also been a head coach in the Showcase Baseball League for the Massachusetts Division for the past five years.

Other coaching experience, includes being a graduate assistant coach for both football and baseball at Framingham State from 2007-09 and Algonquin High School freshman baseball head coach in 2010.

While at Framingham State, Croatti received a master’s degree in human resource management in 2010.

In addition, he completed internships for the New England Patriots and Naval Academy following graduation from Colby-Sawyer College in 2005.

At CSC, he graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in sports management and was a four-year left-handed pitcher for the Chargers where he was teammates with current Massasoit Assistant Athletics Director Ben Warnick.

Croatti also served as an assistant coach to the Warrior baseball team under interim skipper Ben Warnick during the 2017 season. The team finished 16-8 under Warnick and Croatti, taking over a team that went 1-6 prior to a coaching change, and was one game shy of reaching the Region 21 Finals.

Currently, Croatti is employed by Coca-Cola as a Market Development Manager for the greater Boston area and resides in Stoughton with his wife, Jessica, son Cayson and their dog, Vince.
