Title: Assistant Coach
Year: First Season

Former Division I student-athlete and Cardinal Spellman High School standout women's basketball player Lexi Udoji has joined the Massasoit Community College women's basketball coaching staff for the 2019-20 season.

Udoji was as four-year member of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore from 2012-16, where she swatted her name into the record books. During her four-year career with the Hawks, she set the all-time blocks (253) and blocks-per-game (2.3) records and finished third in career rebounds with 694.

The Randolph native also took home plenty of accolades, highlighted by being named the All-MEAC Defensive Player of the Year along with earning all-conference third team and all-rookie accolades during her time with the Hawks.

Locally, Udoji was a force on the hardwood at Cardinal Spellman, earning The Enterprise Player of the Year, Boston Herald All-Scholastic and Central Catholic League MVP her senior season, while leading the Cardinals to the CCL Championship game in 2011. She averaged a triple-double during her last two seasons with the Cardinals.

"Lexi is a local kid, who went to Cardinal Spellman High School, which I think is going to help recruiting in the immediate area. She has a name around here. She's a great young person and wants to work with kids and reminds me a lot of Kisandra (Ayanbeku), when she first came on as an assistant," head coach Mark Leszczyk said.

Leszczyk noted that Udoji will work primarily with the post players in practice and provides another voice for the team to listen to from her collegiate playing experience.

"Lexi playing at the Division I level gives her credibility on what she is saying in practice and work outs. She's done what the current players are trying to do, to reach the highest level," Leszczyk said.

Following her graduation from UMES, Udoji went on to play professionally in Spain for one year before returning to the United State to coach the Bay State Jaguars at the AAU level.
