Massasoit Athletics Announces Honors Convocation Accolades 

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit Athletics Department announced four individual awards at the 2020 Massasoit Community College Honors Convocation. The President's Award went to David Isaac of Brockton and Ty Hawkins from Brentwood, N.Y., while the Student-Athlete Award was given to Caroline Curtis of Holbrook and Bryan Tyrie of Hanson. 

Female President's Award Winner: Ty Hawkins, Women's Basketball 
In her one season at Massasoit, Hawkins left a lasting impression both in the record books and with her fellow students and student-athletes. The Brentwood, NY native became Massasoit's first-ever NJCAA National Player of the Year in any sport along with being named a First Team All-American as she led the Warriors to only their second-ever Region 21 Championship. She averaged more than 30 points per game and tallied a 3.57 GPA, along with being a two-time Athletics Academic Honor Roll recipient. Following her impressive year, Hawkins was awarded a full scholarship to continue her education and basketball career at NCAA Division II Adelphi University. 

Male President's Award Winner: David Isaac, Men's Soccer 
David Isaac, a team captain and goalie, led the Massasoit men's soccer team to win its seventh-straight Region 21 Championship. A true leader in every sense of the word, Isaac would constantly help his fellow student-athletes on campus whenever needed. A two-time All-Region 21 First Team selection will graduate this summer and transfer on to play soccer at Bridgewater State University.  

Female Student-Athlete Award Winner: Caroline Curtis, Women's Volleyball 
Caroline Curtis was standout on the volleyball team, which returned as a varsity sport for the first time since 1986. As a freshman, she was named Second Team All-Region 21 and led the Warriors to the program's second Region 21 Championship in school history. The Holbrook native is a Criminal Justice major and tallied a 3.84 GPA, along with being a two-time Dean's List and Athletics Academic Honor Roll recipient.  

Male Student-Athlete Award Winner: Bryan Tyrie, Men's Basketball 
Bryan Tyrie nearly averaged a double-double on the season for the Warriors, tallying 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The Hanson native is a two-time Athletics Academic Honor Roll recipient and will graduate this summer with a degree in Criminal Justice tallying 3.48 cumulative GPA and will transfer on to play basketball at Fitchburg State.
