Massasoit Trio Named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina ---- A trio of Massasoit Community College student-athletes – Jonathan Carrere (Senegal), Chris McMorrow (Weymouth) and Alyson Reid (Boston) – earned NJCAA All-Academic Third Team honors recently announced by the national office.

Chris McMorrow is a repeat selection, having earned the honor during his freshman year as well and becoming only the second two-time NJCAA All-Academic recipient at Massasoit in the last 10 years. He registered a 3.79 GPA, graduated from Massasoit in two years and is transferring on to Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

On the links, McMorrow became the college's first-ever NJCAA Men's Golf All-American by finishing 16th overall at the 2019 Division III NJCAA National Tournament held at Chautauqua Country Club in Chautauqua, New York.

Sophomore Jonathan Carrere was the backbone of the Massasoit men's soccer defense during his two years donning the green and white. Carrere was a mainstay in the Warrior lineup, guiding Massasoit to a pair of Region 21 Championships and is transferring to Lyons College (Arkansas), an NAIA program to compete on the soccer team. At Massasoit, he registered a 3.66 GPA during his sophomore academic year and was an All-Region 21 selection in his final season with the Warriors.

Rounding on the trio is women's basketball player Alyson Reid of Boston, who recorded a 3.62 GPA. The freshman earned NJCAA All-Region 21 Second Team honors as she helped the Warriors rise to No. 1 in the country for the first time in program history and stay atop the national rankings for nine consecutive weeks. She averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game and was known for her defensive tenacity on the court.
