O’Neil Finishes 14th At NJCAA Track Nationals

UTICA, N.Y. ---- Kerry O'Neil (Stoughton) became the first Massasoit Community College track student-athlete to compete at the NJCAA Nationals over the weekend on the Mohawk Valley Community College campus.

On a windy Saturday afternoon at D'Alessandro Stadium, O'Neil competed in the 5,000-meter race. The freshman finished in 14th place overall in a time of 23:17.8.

"We are very proud of Kerry and all she accomplished this season," head coach Ben Warnick said. "She really put the track program here at Massasoit on the map through her success in year one. She helped set the building blocks for future of the Warrior track program."

The race at Nationals was just the fourth competitive event that O'Neil took part in all season, as Massasoit only had three meets on the 2014 schedule.

On the season, O'Neil placed in the top-10 in the 5,000-meter twice. The long distance runner finished a school-record best fourth at the Regis Pride Classic and sixth at the Fitchburg State Invitational.
