HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's soccer team hung right with perineal power Holyoke on Saturday, but an early second half goal proved to be the difference as the Warriors came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision.

Samantha Baston (Carver) netted Massasoit's goal off a cross from fellow freshman Anya Welch-Batstone (Avon) just eight minutes into the contest to take the early 1-0 lead.

However, the lead was short lived for the visiting Warriors, as HCC's Smantha Tersavich scored at the 15-minute mark to even the game at 1-1.

After intermission, the score remained in a deadlock tie until HCC's Madison Zollo knocked in what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 60th minute of action.

The loss drops Massasoit to 1-2 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 3-3-1.

Keeper Katie Amado (Whitman) five saves in net in the loss.

Massasoit plays at Bristol on Thursday at 3:30 PM.
