WORCESTER, Mass. ---- A trio of freshman accounted for seven of Massasoit's goals, including a hat trick by Samantha Baston (Carver), as the Massasoit women's soccer team defeated Quinsigamond, 8-0.
The win marked the first of the season for the Warriors (1-1) and play at Holyoke on Saturday for their next match.
Baston finished with nine shots, six on frame and three making it to the back of the net to lead the Massasoit offense. She also added an assist for a total of seven points for the contest.
Fellow freshmen Betty Blake (Whitman) and Anya Welch-Batstone (Avon) added two goals and one assist each, while veteran sophomore Alex Santos (Whitman) added a goal and assist of her own.
Massasoit led 3-0 at the half before netting five second half goals.
Quinsigamond's keeper Cherie Engman made 13 saves as Massasoit finished with 49 total shots.
