Women’s Soccer Faces Springfield Tech in Region 21 Semifinals

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's soccer team will face Springfield Tech on Friday at 2 PM on the Holyoke CC campus in the NJCAA Region 21 Women's Soccer Semifinals.

The winner will advance to face top seed Holyoke, who earned a bye to the regional finals, on Sunday at 1 PM in Holyoke.

Massasoit Team Report

The Warriors boast a balanced offensive attack as 14 different student-athletes have recorded at least one goal on the season. The team averages 3.77 goals per game, 13th highest in the NJCAA.

Freshman striker Alexandra Santos (Hanson) leads the charge up top for Massasoit, netting 13 goals and dishing out four assists (30 points) in her first season donning Green and White.

Fellow freshman Kathy Remick (Norton) ranks second on the team in points with 23 (8g, 7a) and sophomore Kaylee Khang of Brockton (3g, 1a) look to control the midfield for the Warriors.

Defensively, Massasoit has a quartet of veterans in sophomores Courtney Foley and Jakiyah Jones-Robinson, both from Holbrook, Emily White (Plympton) and Deja Houston (Taunton).

In net, Massasoit has used both Leah Kowlski (Whitman) and Laura Nieske (Watertown) as its primary goalkeepers. Nieske has made the last five starts, making 34 saves in net for the Warriors.

The Warriors are in search of their first Region 21 Championship since 1999.

Series vs Springfield Tech

The Rams own the season series at 1-1-0. STCC and Massasoit tied 1-1 in the first meeting in Springfield and the Rams captured the most recent contest in Brockton, 3-2.

Series vs Holyoke

The Warriors fell 1-0 at home and 3-1 on the road to the top-seeded Cougars.
