BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Central Maine's Megan Duval found the back of the net twice, including the golden goal in the 106th minute to top the Massasoit women's soccer team, 2-1, in double overtime on Monday afternoon.

Duval's golden goal came inside the box off a cross from teammate Brittany Greig to improve the Mustangs to 2-0 on the season.

Monday's contest marked the season opener for Massasoit (0-1) as the Warriors return to the pitch on Thursday, hosting CCRI at 4PM.

The Warriors raced out to an early 1-0 lead when freshman Amanda Sesock (Hanson) one-timed a cross from Whitman-Hanson High School classmate Alexandra Santos (Hanson) in the fourth minute of action.

Throughout the first half, Massasoit produced plenty of scoring chances, rifling off 16 shots in opening stanza, 10 coming on frame, but only one could find the back of the net.

Owning the 1-0 entering the second half it was the Mustangs which would strike early in the second stanza. Duval corralled a cross and laced one to the corner just 52 seconds into the second half to even the score at 1-1.

The score remained deadlocked until Duval's golden goal game-winner in the second overtime period.

Massasoit keeper Leah Kowlski (Whitman) made seven saves in net, including two big stops during the overtime periods.

For the game, Massasoit outshot Central Maine 27-20, with 11 shots coming off the foot of Santos.

The duo of Alexandra Sult and Jane Lester combined to make 15 saves in net for the Mustangs.
