Women's Soccer Falls To Springfield Tech; Sprague Reaches Milestone

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ---- Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) reached the 100-career point plateau with a goal just two minutes into the match, but Springfield Tech rallied to top the Massasoit women's soccer team, 3-1 on Saturday.

The loss drops Massasoit to 6-7 overall and 5-3 against divisional Region 21 opponents. STCC improves to 5-3-1 overall.

Sprague netted a through ball pass from Krista Woodworth (Norton) just two minutes into game action, marking the 48th goal in the sophomore striker's career as she also surpassed the 100-career point plateau. She now has 101 points in her two seasons with the Warriors.

STCC's Emma Lane scored in the 14th minute as the game went to halftime deadlocked at 1-1.

In the second half, STCC would tack on two more goals, one from Lane and another from Lisanne Corniffe as the host Rams earned the 3-1 victory.

Kelly Cronin (Weymouth) made 10 saves in net for Massasoit.

The Warriors travel to Bristol CC on Tuesday for a 3:30 PM match.
