Shelby Sprague Scoring Spree Continues In 6-3 Win Over Bristol CC

#4 Shelby Sprague
#4 Shelby Sprague

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Krista Woodworth (Norton) to Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) connection worked all afternoon long as the Massasoit women's soccer team defeated Bristol CC, 6-3, on Thursday at Warrior Field.

Sprague finished with five goals for the match, four being assisted by Woodworth as the Warriors improved to 2-4 on the season.

Tati Dias (Brockton) added a goal and assist in her first match of the season and also made three saves in goal. Kelly Cronin (Weymouth) made four stops in net, playing keeper for the first 70 minutes of action.

The game started off rocky for Massasoit, as Bristol's Tori Borges buried a free kick just 57 seconds into the contest to give the visiting Bayhawks and early 1-0 lead.

That Bristol advantage was short lived, though, as Sprague struck in the 5th, 16th and 23rd minutes as Massasoit held a 3-1 cushion at the break.

Bristol netted two goals in the second stanza, but Dias scored her first career goal and Sprague added two more to secure the 6-3 victory.

The Warriors finished with 24 shots, 17 coming on net in the victory.

Massasoit hosts Springfield Tech on Saturday at 1 PM.
