BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit women's soccer head coach Jim Stapleton was named Region 21 Coach of the Year, recently announced by the regional board of directors.
In his second year, Stapleton guided the Warriors to a 10-5-1 overall record and 6-1-1 against Region 21 competition, along with a runner up finish to Holyoke CC in the regional finals.
The Warriors, an NJCAA DIII team, defeated two NJCAA Division I teams, in Dean College and Mercer County CC, and reached the 10-win mark for the first time since 2008. In addition, the Warriors snapped a 16-match losing streak to powerhouse Holyoke CC, by tying the Cougars, 2-2, on Sept. 19.
Under Stapleton's watch, the Warriors placed six student-athletes on the all-region teams and captured national player of the week awards six times.
In his two years leading the Warriors, Stapleton has compiled a 19-12-1 record.
